Knox Presbyterian Church

Naperville, Illinois

For a large Presbyterian congregation in Naperville, an existing sanctuary was demolished and replaced with a new addition to increase seating capacity to the maximum of 575 seats and provide better accessibility from the new main entrance carport. Glass doors separating the sanctuary from the entrance commons can open to provide expansion seating as needed. The administration area, child care, classrooms, gymnasium, and toilet rooms were also renovated. The pipe organ was relocated and enhanced for the new larger space with additional ranks and electronic supplements. With careful planning, the church remained open throughout the construction and renovation.
